As golfers move south along the Great Road, scenery becomes more lush and green and the golfing season gets longer, with some of the southernmost courses offering year-round opportunities.

Travelers will find casinos located at regular intervals along the course of the Great River Road. Many casinos offer hotel rooms and dining. Some casinos are in riverboats docked in small towns on the Mississippi River. Gaming opportunities abound along the Mississippi River.

St. Louis, Missouri, is home to professional baseball, football and hockey teams. Kentucky offers casino action not far from the Great River Road. Tennessee is home to the Memphis Grizzlies NBA team. In Arkansas, travelers will find great golf at Village Creek State Park, just off the Great River Road. Tunica, Mississippi, is one of the premier gambling destinations in the U.S. And, New Orleans, Louisiana, offers professional football and basketball.
