Bicycling opportunities abound along the 3,000-mile Great River Road National Scenic Byway. Bicyclists will find both designated recreational trails as well as quiet roadways running along the river and through scenic backcountry.

Louisiana presents cyclists with both road cycling and mountain biking opportunities. Mississippi offers bicyclists a mix of city sights and rural views. Backcountry scenery abounds in Kentucky. Tennessee is home to a number of scenic bicycle routes. Trails in Arkansas feature mountain vistas and stunning riverscapes. Missouri boasts some excellent trails, including the 237-mile Katy Trail. Ride some outstanding trails running along canals and former railways in Illinois. Iowa’s bike trails are some of the most popular in the U.S. Wisconsin’s quiet highways are beloved by road cyclists. There are woodland and urban biking opportunities aplenty in Minnesota.

Pedal your way down the Mississippi River! The Mississippi River Trail allows bicyclists to follow the Great River Road from northern Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico.
